i can recall when
i first listened to is this it?.
i wanted it to stop.
i thought it hopelessly derivative.
who wants to like a rock and roll band
made up of rich kids, anyway?
i kept hearing it and eventually
i understood what they were going for.
i grew to love it.
i thought room on fire was fine,
but then they released first impressions of earth
and that’s when i knew for sure
that they were doing something great
and that i should pay closer attention to these
spoiled, snotty-nosed but
undeniably awesome rich kids.
